Beef is, of course, good in Oklahoma City, especially around the stockyards. The warehouse restaurants of Bricktown are popular with the after-work and singles crowd.
Cattleman's Steakhouse 1309 S Agnew Ave tel 405/236-0416. Cattlemen from the adjacent stockyards eat in this comfortable, pub-like restaurant, which has served great steaks since 1910. (It was allegedly won in a craps game.) Lunchtime specials are a good deal.
Sonic Drive-in, branches throughout the city. Waitresses on roller skates serve up cheap and fast burgers and fries.
Sushi Neko 4318 N Western Ave tel 405/528-8862. Trendy Japanese restaurant with excellent sushi and outside seating.
TapWerks Ale House and Café 121 E Sheridan Ave tel 405/319-9599. Very popular Bricktown restaurant with a British-influenced menu and a long list of beers. Open late.
